About Us
How it Began - For many years,
the mother-daughter team of, Linda and Wendy Konichek, of Jericho Creek Farms I & II, had dreamed about sharing their wonderful horses
with people who did not have horses in their lives. Thus the seeds for
Horse Power Healing Center (HPHC) were started. In 2009, Wendy moved
back home to the family farm in Eagle, Wisconsin to start to develop
this dream. Before she left Tomahawk, Wisconsin she was lucky enough to
meet Jodi Olenski who was also inspired by this dream.
When Linda's friend, Anjie heard that Wendy was back in town, she wanted
to start horseback riding lessons for her son, Brindley, who is on the
Autism spectrum. When Brindley arrived for his lesson he was accompanied
by his therapist, Liz Partridge. Liz, was thrilled at the possibility of
being an active member of Linda and Wendy's dream.
Then at the 2010 NARHA Regional Conference Wendy met Debbie Goetz of Helping Hands Healing Hooves in Cedarburg, WI. Our Thanks go to Debbie, who was extremely helpful with information about starting a Therapeutic Riding program.
On April 16, 2010 Horse Power Healing Center, Inc. was officially recognized as a non-profit organization by the State of Wisconsin. To read an article from the local paper about when we started please see: 2010 Mukwonago
